 Calmira Bug Details

B0050 : "List index out of bounds" error in Start Menu properties
You may get a "List index out of bounds" error when you drag an item from one folder to another. This only happens if the item dragged is the last item in the originating folder.

There is a possibility that the Start Menu becomes corrupted, causing loss of items. In that case, restore a backup copy, or install the original start.ini and re-import your Program Manager groups.

Workaround: Copy the last item to the new folder (holding down CTRL), then delete the original item.

Reported against: II 3.0 to 3.31
State: Confirmed, Fixed
Releases fixed: None

B0049 : Corrupted start menu icons
Certain video drivers cannot handle very wide bitmaps, causing bmpcahce.bmp to be corrupted when being written to the disk. This very old bug has finally been fixed by deviding bmpcache into rows.

Reported against: II 3.3 and earlier
State: Confirmed, Fixed
Releases fixed: II 3.31

B0048 : Browser setting not read from calmira.ini
If you have set the Browser setting in System Properties, Calmira does not read the setting back from calmira.ini. This is because Calmira tries to read the value form the wrong ini section.

Reported against: II 3.11 to 3.3
State: Confirmed, Fixed
Releases fixed: II 3.31

B0047 : General protection fault when logging on
Multiple reports have come in that, when Multiple Users is enabled, the below error is displayed when logging on as a new user.

Exception EGP fault in module CALMIRA.EXE at 0002:376B
General protection fault in module CALMIRA.EXE at 0002:376B.

Workaround: After creating a new user, but before logging on, create the profile directory for that user and copy calmira.ini and start.ini to that directory.

Reported against: II 3.3
State: Confirmed, Fixed
Releases fixed: II 3.31

B0046 : Internet Explorer Crash
Clicking OK or Apply in the Internet Options dialog of Internet Explorer causes Calmira to crash or hang with a GPF message.

State: Confirmed, Fixed
Releases fixed: II 3.25

B0045 : "Unable to find Kgt7sT4q"
When the Calmira Task Manager is restarting Calmira, this message may pop up. This is not a bug, but a result of me forgetting to include the updated ctaskman.exe file in 3.12. To correct this, download the updated ctaskman.exe.

Reported against: II 3.11 and 3.12
State: Confirmed, Fixed
Releases fixed: II 3.12

B0044 : "Cannot create descript.ion"
On some systems, Calmira has difficulty updating the descript.ion file. This is because Windows reports it can not create a hidden file that already exists.

Reported against: II 3.11

When entering a root directory (ie. C:\), Calmira reports it cannot find the directory.

B0039 : Alias File not found when starting Calmira
When Calmira start with user profiles enabled, Calmira reports that it can not find the aliases in the \tray directory, and failes to load the aliases. The error does not occur when the aliases are present in both \calmira\tray and \calmira\profiles\[user]\tray.

Workaround: Copy the aliases from \calmira\profiles\[user]\tray to \calmira\tray.

B0034 : Calmira resets to 'All users share the same settings'
When a user opens the System properties dialog, and clicks on OK without opening the Users tab, Calmira resets to 'All users share the same settings' (MultipleProfiles=0 in CALUSERS.INI).

Workaround: Always open the Users tab when in System properties.

Reported against: II 3.0
State: Confirmed, Fixed
Releases fixed: II 3.01

B0033 : HideMinApps setting incorrectly saved
The setting for 'Hide the icons of minimized applications' is incorrectly saved as 'MideMinApps' in Calmira.ini. Calmira looks for 'HideMinApps' to load the setting. If it cannot find the setting, it defaults to 1 (true).

Workaround: If you don't want icons to hide, edit Calmira.ini manually (or use the advanced ini editor) and add (or modify) the following setting under [Taskbar]: HideMinApps=0

Reported against: II 3.0
State: Confirmed, Fixed

Reported against: 2.2
State: Confirmed, Fixed
Releases fixed: II 3.0

B0029 : Limits on lengths of Start Menu item data
The Command, Directory and Icon File fields of Start Menu items are all limited to 80 characters. The strings will be truncated if you attempt to convert long strings from Program Manager items.

The solution is to place the long string in the [Environment] section and use an environment variable in the menu item's fields. This will cause the long string to be substituted when required, and the substitution process is limited to 255 characters.

Reported against: 2.2
State: Confirmed, In progress
Release fixed: none

B0028 : Semi-colons are not allowed in Start Menu item data
The START.INI file uses semi-colons to separate the data of individual fields. This means that you cannot enter semi-colons in the field data itself, and if you do so, the data will not be interpreted correctly.

The solution is to add a variable entry to the [Environment] section using a value that consists of a single semi-colon. You can then use the variable, %sc% for example, wherever you want to insert a semi-colon.

Reported against: 2.2
State: Confirmed, In progress
Release fixed: none

B0027 : Documentation error for settings restriction
There is a typo in the readme file regarding the prevention of settings modification. To disable property dialogs and preserve shortcuts, you should set:

[Calmira]
CanEditSettings=0
and not "CanEditingSettings".

Reported against: 2.2
State: Confirmed, Closed
Release fixed: n/a

B0026 : Windows 3.1 style Start Menu may not display at correct height

Reported against: 2.2
State: Confirmed, In progress
Release fixed: none

B0025 : Windows 95 colour theme not installed
If you install Calmira 2.2 over version 2.1, the Windows 95 colour scheme is not automatically installed into Control Panel. You can add it manually by editing control.ini and adding the following entry to the [Color schemes] section:

Windows 95 standard=808000,808080,FFFFFF,0,C0C0C0,0,800000,808080,
  FFFFFF,C0C0C0,C0C0C0,0,10E0E0E0,C0C0C0,808080,0,
  808080,800000,FFFFFF,C0C0C0,FFFFFF
This data should all be on one line.

B0024 : System menus on taskbar buttons may not be up to date
If you choose to show actual system menus when you right click over a taskbar button, the menus that are shown may not be updated by the client program prior to popup. So if a program normally disables some items, or makes different commands available at different times, you might not see the effect from the taskbar.

If you experience this problem, you can update the menu by restoring the affected program window and clicking once on its close box.

Reported against: 2.1
State: Confirmed, Fixed
Release fixed: 2.2

B0023 : Alt+Tab side effects
This is mentioned in the 2.2 Readme -- all grid and tree components used by Calmira are affected by task switching with Alt+Tab. The focus moves to the next item along, which causes the Explorer tree to change directory. The bug appears in the Delphi 1.0 VCL, and was fixed in 1.01.

State: Confirmed, Fixed
Release fixed: II 3.0

B0022 : Some volume labels with more than 8 characters handled incorrectly

If you are using the DDE feature to update the Start Menu, a top level menu called "Programs" must exist, otherwise an "Outline index error" will be reported. For non-English users with a different word for Programs, edit the INI file, and in the [Start Menu] section, add the line:

ProgramsGroup={name of existing menu}

Reported against: 2.1
State: Confirmed, Fixed

B0015 : Startup group not loading after conversion from Program Manager

StartupGroup={name of startup menu}
